The Apple iPhone is going to be here on June 29th and it will definitely be a hit as it is one of the most highly anticipated tech gadgets and cell phones in the last 5 years.
The iPhone will include much of the amenities and features on many cell phones out today, but include some unique features that put the iPhone 5 years ahead of anything else on the market according to Apple.
The new Apple phone will be able to function as a multimedia player, internet web browser, read email, text messaging and of course a phone. Lest we forget some people just want a phone these days without all the other crap these slick little devices offer.
One of the most incredible things about the Apple iPhone is the touch screen with a virtual keyboard and buttons. One of the big marketing points of the iPhone is that with any other cell phone you are stuck with the keyboard layout because it can’t be changed. However, with the iPhone you can arrange your virtual buttons as you wish and with updates to the firmware and aftermarket software, you can even change the look of your virtual screen completely.
The touch sensitive screen has a resolution of 320 x 480 at 160 ppi and can be used with a single finger or multiple fingers. You can’t use a stylus because the screen requires it to be use with bare skin only. A very cool feature of the iPhone is that you can scroll content around the screen by dragging your fingers in any direction across the screen and the content will follow. You can even pinch and unpinch objects on the screen to make them smaller and larger.
The iPhone also supports full page web browsing instead of the usual mobile browsing found on most other web enabled cell phones. You can also access the net through any wireless network because the iPhone has built in WiFi.
The phone also features a bit of a disappointing 2 megapixel digital camera. The relatively low resolution camera is surprising for a phone that claims to be 5 years ahead of any other cell phone on the market. The standard digital camera in most cell phones is 1.3 megapixel with several offering a 2 megapixel phone. But I hardly believe we will still be seeing 2 megapixel cell phone cameras 5 years from now. As quick as every digital camera maker is coming out with a 10 megapixel camera I believe we wil soon see 5 mexapixel cameras on phones. Maybe the iPhone 2.0 will support a larger resolution camera.
The Apple iPhone will be priced at $499 for a 4 GB model and $599 for a 10 GB model.
Millions can hardly wait for June 29th.
